Pada bulan Juli 1997, Benetton Group mengakuisisi 57% saham Benetton Sportsystem dari Edizione Holdings senilai 318 miliar lira. Pada saat ini, namanya diubah menjadi Playlife untuk mewakili peralatan olahraga, barang, dan mode untuk perusahaan dengan merek seperti Prince, Rollerblade, dan Kästle.[1][2] Pada pertengahan tahun 1998, Benetton memperkirakan sekitar 40 toko khusus Playlife akan dibuka di benua Eropa.[3] Pada tahun 1999, seluruh bekas merek Benetton Sportsystem dikonsolidasikan ke dalam grup di bawah Playlife.[4]

Playlife memproduksi baju olahraga dan sepatu kasual yang digunakan oleh Tim Olimpiade Italia pada Olimpiade 2000 di Sydney.[5] Tim juga membuka toko Playlife khusus yang pertama di Milan.[6]

Ekspansi toko terus berlanjut, dan pada tahun 2011, Giovanni Peracin secara resmi diumumkan sebagai Direktur Bisnis Playlife yang baru.[7] Pada saat yang sama, Benetton membuka toko konsep Playlife yang baru di kota markas Treviso, Italia.[8]

Namun pada akhir tahun 2013, Playlife dibubarkan oleh Benetton Group selama masa restrukturisasi.[9][10]

Playlife menaruh nama mereka dalam penyediaan mesin Formula Satu untuk tim Benetton Formula dari 1998 sampai 2000. Mesin Playlife adalah mesin modifikasi Renault yang dikerjakan oleh Mecachrome pada tahun 1998 dan Supertec pada tahun 1999 dan 2000. Pada tahun 1998, perusahaan milik Flavio Briatore, yaitu Super Performance Competition Engineering, menandatangani perjanjian distribusi dengan Mecachrome untuk memulai pembuatan mesin untuk musim 1999.
