Gossip Girl adalah sebuah seri televisi drama remaja Amerika yang didasarkan dari seri novel berjudul sama karya Cecily von Ziegesar. Dikembangkan oleh Josh Schwartz dan Stephanie Savage,[1][2] seri ini tayang di The CW pada tanggal 19 September 2017 hingga 17 Desember 2007 selama enam musim.[3][4]

Diiringi narasi dari sebuah blog anonim "Gossip Girl" yang mahatahu, seri ini menceritakan kehidupan remaja-remaja populer penuh privilese yang tinggal di Upper East Side, Manhattan. Kisah bermula dengan kembalinya Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) setelah satu tahun menghilang secara misterius. Kembalinya Serena mendapat sambutan dingin dari sahabatnya, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), yang telah menggantikan posisinya. Valley Girls

Pada penayangan musim keduanya, Gossip Girl menampilkan episode berjudul "Valley Girls" yang berperan sebagai backdoor pilot untuk seri prekuel berjudul sama. Valley Girls direncanakan akan berfokus pada kehidupan Lily Rhodes saat remaja pada tahun 1980an, setelah dirinya kabur dari orang tuanya dan tinggal bersama kakaknya, Carol, yang sudah lebih dahulu meninggalkan kehidupan mewahnya.[18] Dalam episode ini, Brittany Snow memerankan Lily Rhodes, sedangkan Krysten Ritter memerankan Carol Rhodes.[19][20]

Karena keterbatasan tempat di The CW, Valley Girls gagal diangkat menjadi seri.[21]

Gossip Girl

Pada Juli 2019, HBO Max mengumumkan rencana penayangan seri reboot yang akan dirilis pada tahun 2020.[22] Josh Schwartz kemudian mengonfirmasi bahwa seri ini akan menjadi kelanjutan dari seri sebelumnya,[22] tetapi akan menampilkan karakter-karakter baru.[23] Leighton Meester dan Chace Crawford mengonfirmasi ketidakhadiran mereka dalam seri lanjutan ini,[24][25] tetapi Meester dan Crawford akan terbuka apabila mendapatkan tawaran.[26] Kristen Bell yang menjadi pengisi suara Gossip Girl dikonfirmasi akan kembali untuk seri sekuel ini.[27][28]
