The Amazing Race 22 adalah edisi kedua puluh dua dari acara televisi realitas The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 22 menampilkan beberapa tim yang masing-masing terdiri dari dua orang, dengan hubungan yang sudah ada, dalam perlombaan mengelilingi belahan dunia.

Los Angeles Griffith Observatory adalah starting line di season 22 Amazing Race.

Musim ini akan disiarkan pada pertengahan 2012-13. Dalam sebuah wawancara dengan TV Guide, Keoghan mengungkapkan bahwa hadiah Double Your Money yang diperkenalkan pada musim lalu tidak akan disertakan di musim ini. Sebaliknya, tim pertama yang tiba di Pitstop leg pertama, akan menerima Express Pass, tetapi ada kejutan baru, ada Express Pass tambahan untuk tim lain yang mereka pilih sebelum leg 4.

Musim ini akan mengarungi perjalanan sejauh 30.000 mil (48.000 km) dalam perjalanan 5 benua dan 9 negara,dengan kunjungan pertama kali ke French Polynesia, di mana tim melakukan skydive setinggi 10.000 kaki di Bora Bora. Tugas lain yang sudah dikonfirmasi adalah "Balap Shemozzle" di Selandia Baru, berburu kalajengking dengan Bushmen di Bostwana dan Swiss, di mana tim akan pergi ke Gunung Eiger.

• Babak 1 – Two Express Passes – an item that can be used on the race to skip any one task of the team's choosing. The winning team keeps one for themselves but must relinquish the second to another team before the end of the fourth leg of the race.

Babak 1 (Amerika Serikat → Polinesia Perancis, Perancis)

For the first Leg of The Amazing Race 22, teams visited the island of Bora Bora in French Polynesia.

In the first Roadblock of the Race, one team member had to sign up for one of six helicopter flights, with only room for two racers per flight. They then tandem skydived from over 10.000 kaki (3.000 m) above the island while their partner would make their way to the landing location via water taxi. When the team reunited, they would receive their next clue. In the second Roadblock, the other team member had to search among 400 sandcastles for a clue buried underneath them. If they did not find the clue, they had to rebuild the sandcastle before continuing.

Additional tasks

• At the starting line, teams raced to pick a Ford Fusion where a recording informed them of their first destination: Bora Bora. The clue also added that there were only five spots on the first flight out of Los Angeles, and the second flight would not arrive in Bora Bora until an hour after the first.
• After completing the second roadblock, teams had to assemble an outrigger canoe known as a va'a and then paddle 1 mil (1,6 km) across the water to the Pit Stop.

Babak 2 (Polinesia Perancis, Perancis)

One of the two Detour choices in Bora Bora involved the tradition of pearl farming (pictured from Rangiroa).

This Leg's Detour was a choice between Pick a Pearl and Take a Trunk. For both Detours, teams had to pick up a pair of water shoes and snorkelling gear provided to them at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui chapel. In Pick a Pearl, teams traveled to a point half a mile off shore in the open water where they had to dive beneath the waves to untie lines of pearl oyster shells that they had to shuck open to find two red pearls. After finding both pearls, teams had to swim over to an oyster farmer in a boat to exchange them for their next clue. In Take a Trunk, teams dove underwater, wearing special diving helmet, to look for a series of treasure trunks. They then had to take the a trunk over to a submerged umbrella and unpack its contents, setting up an underwater picnic table. Once the table was set up properly, an underwater waiter would give them their next clue. In this Leg's Roadblock, one team member participated in a traditional Polynesian test of strength, walking on a pair of sparring stilts while kicking a coconut across a 35-yard (32 m) stretch of beach. If the racer fell off the stilts, he or she had to return to the starting line, but the position of the coconut would not be reset. Once the racer had successfully kicked the coconut over the finish line, the team would be able to advance to the Pit Stop.

Additional tasks

• Upon arriving at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui, teams had to search the resort grounds for the wedding chapel where a Polynesian priest would give them a safe travel blessing before handing them their next clue.
• After the Detour, teams had to use personal water crafts and a local map to guide themselves to Motu Tapu, referred to as "the most photographed isle in the South Pacific", where their next clue would be found.
