Gerhard Ludwig Weinberg (lahir 1 Januari 1928) adalah seorang sejarawan militer dan diplomatik Amerika kelahiran Jerman yang dikenal karena studi-studinya dalam bidang sejarah Perang Dunia II. Weinberg sekarang adalah William Rand Kenan, Jr. Profesor Emeritus Sejarah di Universitas Carolina Utara di Chapel Hill. Ia adalah anggota fakultas sejarah di UNC-Chapel Hill sejak 1974. Sebelumnya ia menjabat pada fakultas-fakultas di Universitas Michigan (1959–1974) dan Universitas Kentucky (1957–1959).

Masa muda dan pendidikan[sunting | sunting sumber]

Weinberg lahir di Hanover, Jerman, dan tinggal disana pada sepuluh tahun pertama masa hidupnya. Sebagai Yahudi di Jerman Nazi, ia dan keluarganya mengalami penganiayaan. Mereka berpindah pada 1938, mula-mula ke Britania Raya dan kemudian pada 1941 ke Negara Bagian New York. Weinberg menjadi warga negara A.S., bertugas dalam Angkatan Darat AS saat Pendudukan Jepang pada 1946-1947
