Pitirim Alexandrovich Sorokin (//;[1] bahasa Rusia: Питири́м Алекса́ндрович Соро́кин, kelahiran 2 Februari 1889,[2] Turiya, Vologda Governorate meninggal pada 10 Februari 1968, di Winchester, Massachusetts) adalah seorang sosiolog yang lahir di Republik Komi dari Rusia. Seorang akademisi dan aktivis politik, ia beremigrasi dari Uni Soviet ke Amerika Serikat pada tahun 1923.

Pada tahun 1930, pada usia 40, Sorokin adalah pribadi yang diminta oleh presiden Universitas Harvard untuk menerima posisi yang ada. Di Universitas Harvard, ia mendirikan Departemen Sosiologi.[3] Dia adalah seorang kritikus vokal dari rekannya Talcott Parsons.[4] Sorokin bersemangat lawan komunisme, yang ia dianggap sebagai "hama manusia." Dia adalah yang terbaik dikenal untuk kontribusi sosial teori siklus.
