Richard Woodman

Kapten Richard Martin Woodman LVO (lahir 1944) seorang novelis dan sejarah kemaritiman, berkebangsaan Inggris yang pensiun tahun 1997 setelah 37 tahun berkarier di bidang kelautan untuk Trinity House, sebagai penulis tetap. Hasil karyanya adalah 14 jilid tentang karier Nathaniel Drinkwater, dan cerita pendek tentang James Dunbar dan William Kite, tetapi dia juga menulis buku kisah nyata tentang sejarah abad ke-18 dan Perang Dunia II, termasuk trilogi penelitian konvoi pada Perang Dunia II dan 5 jilid sejarah Pelayaran Perdagangan Inggris. Tidak menyukai penulis sejarah kemaritiman modern seperti C.S. Forester atau Patrick O'Brian, Dia melaut sejak berumur 16 tahun sebagai penangkap ikan dan menghabiskan 11 tahun bertugas. Pengalamannya mulai dari kapal cargo-liners sampai ocean weather ships dan spesialis kapal pendukung vessels seperti yachts, square-riggers, dan trawlers.

Woodman sebagai koresponden majalah memancing Lloyd's List dan melanjutkan ekspedisi tertutup di laut seperti manusia yachts. Dia juga melayani Badan Kooperasi Trinity House. Dia memenangkan beberapa piala termasuk Society for Nautical Research's Anderson Medal pada tahun 2005 dan the Marine Society's Harmer Award pada tahun 1978.

Woodman menjadi Letnan Royal Victorian Order (LVO) pada tahun 2014 Penghargaan Tahun Baru untuk pengabdian di Trinity House.
