Poitou (pengucapan bahasa Prancis: [pwatu]) adalah bekas provinsi di bagian barat-tengah Prancis yang beribu kota di Poitiers. Wilayah Poitou disebut Thifalia (atau Theiphalia) saat abat keenam. Di situ banyak terdapat lahan rawa yang bernama Poitevin Marsh (Marais Poitevin) di dekat Teluk Poitou, pantai barat Prancis, sebelah utara La Rochelle dan sebelah barat Niort. Dalam Perjanjian Paris Tahun 1259, Raja Henry III dari Inggris mengakui kehilangan wilaynya di Plantaganet yang diambil alih Prancis (termasuk Normandy, Maine, Anjou, dan Poitou).[2]
