Kekistan adalah sebuah negara fiktif yang dibuat oleh para anggota 4chan yang telah menjadi meme politik dan gerakan daring.[1] Menurut Ian Miles Cheong, penulis Heat Street, nama tersebut adalah lakuran dari kata "kek" dan suffix "-stan".[2] "Kek" berasal dari ragam dari kata kata "lel", yang kata itu sendiri merupakan ragam dari kata "lol",[3][4] dan timbul dari permainan video World of Warcraft,[5] atau secara alternatif merupakan onomatopoeia Korea untuk tawaan yang ditulis sebagai "kekeke".[6] Frase tersebut kemudian diasosiasikan dengan dewa kegelapan Mesir kuno bernama sama.[7] Dewa tersebut kemudian diasosiasikan dengan Pepe the Frog pada forum-forum internet.[7][8] Sementara, suffix "-stan" berasal dari kata Persia untuk "tempat" dan akhiran dari beberapa nama negara dan wilayah Asia Tengah sebenarnya.
