Barun Sobti (lahir 21 Agustus 1984) adalah seorang aktor televisi dan film India.[1] Dia memulai karier aktingnya dengan serial televisi berorientasi Star Plus Shraddha. Peran pertamanya adalah sebagai Shravan Jaiswal di Baat Hamari Pakki Hai dengan Ankita Sharma.

Pada tahun 2011, ia memerankan taipan bisnis Arnav Singh Raizada dalam drama 2011 Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? berlawanan dengan Sanaya Irani. Dia kemudian muncul di seri 2017 web Tanhaiyan berlawanan dengan Surbhi Jyoti. Dia akan segera tampil dalam film kritis yang terkenal Tu Hai Mera Sunday yang rencananya akan dirilis pada tanggal 6 Oktober di India. Dia saat ini menggambarkan peran Advay Singh Raizada di Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon 3.

Kehidupan awal dan keluarga

Barun menghadiri St. Mark's School di Paschim Vihar, New Delhi.[1] Sebelum memasuki industri hiburan, ia bekerja sebagai manajer operasi di Jindal Telecom selama 7 tahun.[1] Ia menikahi pacarnya masa kecil Pashmeen Manchanda pada tanggal 12 Desember 2010 di sebuah Gurudwara.[2][3]

Karier

Sobti pertama kali muncul sebagai Swayam Khurana dalam acara keagamaan yang berorientasi Shraddha di Star Plus, berlawanan dengan Neha Janpandit. Dia kemudian muncul dalam peran cameo negatif dari Dr. Raj di Dill Mill Gayye, setelah itu dia memainkan peran utama Shravan Jaiswal yang riang di serial televisi Baat Hamari Pakki Hai.[4]

Sobti kemudian pergi untuk membintangi drama Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? (2011 TV series) .[5] Dia memainkan Arnav Singh Raizada, seorang pengusaha kasar dan ramah yang jatuh cinta pada Khushi Kumari Gupta yang dimainkan oleh Sanaya Irani . Setelah Sobti mengumumkan "break" dari pertunjukan tersebut, respon negatif dari para penggemar pada akhirnya menyebabkan pembatalan seri tersebut.[6][7] Pada tahun 2013, ia berjudul Man Asia Terseksi oleh majalah Inggris Eastern Eye.[8]

Dia membuat debut Bollywood di film utama tahun 2002 Aur Aur Riight.[9] Pada tahun 2015, ia bertingkah di Dry Dreams, sebuah film pendek tentang konservasi air.[10]

Pada tahun 2014, Sobti menandatangani Arshad Sayed Satra Ko Shaadi Hai,[11][12][13] namun pada bulan Mei 2017, Sobti mengungkapkan keyakinan bahwa film tersebut telah disimpan. Dia berkata, "Saya tidak tahu persis status film itu, tapi saya ragu itu akan segera keluar. Saya selesai syuting untuk itu sejak lama." I finished shooting for it long ago."[14]

Film bertema sepak bola milik Sobti, Tu Hai Mera, Minggu (Inggris: You Are My Sunday), disutradarai oleh Milind Dhaimade. Film ini diputar perdana di British Film Institute (BFI) London Film Festival, lalu di India di Festival Film Mumbai MAMI. Itu juga diputar di Festival Film Internasional Komedi Cluj (Rumania); dan akan mengadakan pemutaran perdana USAID di Cinequest Film Festival, California pada bulan Maret 2017. Sudah siap untuk rilis di seluruh dunia pada 6 Oktober 2017.

Pada tahun 2017, ia bertindak dalam rangkaian web Tanhaiyan di seberang Surbhi Jyoti, dan diumumkan bahwa Sobti akan kembali memimpin dalam angsuran ketiga dari waralaba Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon berlawanan dengan Shivani Tomar dari Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki. Pertunjukan tersebut mulai ditayangkan mulai 3 Juli 2017 dan mendapat banyak penghargaan dari kritikus dan persaudaraan televisi namun gagal meraih peringkat yang bagus dan akhirnya acara tersebut ditutup pada tanggal 6 Oktober 2017. Setelah merilis film berikutnya, Tu Hai Mera Sunday, Barun Sobti akan beristirahat sejenak sebelum memilih sebuah proyek baru.
