Centurion adalah tank tempur utama Inggris pada masa setelah Perang Dunia II, dan banyak dianggap sebagai tank rancangan Inggris yang paling sukses. Tank ini dirancang pada Perang Dunia II, tetapi belum sempat digunakan pada pertempuran karena baru selesai pada akhir Perang Dunia II. Tank ini lalu digunakan pada Perang Korea, di mana tank ini mengalahkan kemampuan tank Amerika Serikat dan Uni Soviet. Tank ini juga digunakan Australia pada Perang Vietnam dengan peran pendukung. Tank ini kemudian menjadi salah satu tank yang paling banyak digunakan, dengan sejumlah kecil masih digunakan sampai tahun 1990-an. Bahkan, pada konflik tahun 2006 di Lebanon Selatan, terlihat bahwa pihak Israel masih menggunakan tank Centurion tanpa meriam yang digunakan sebagai kendaraan pengangkut. Tank ini masih dipakai di Afrika Selatan (dan masih dimodernisasi).
