Substack adalah platform online Amerika yang menyediakan penerbitan, pembayaran, analisis, dan infrastruktur desain untuk mendukung dalam berlangganan newsletter.^[3] Platform ini memungkinkan penulis untuk mengirim buletin digital secara langsung ke pelanggan.^[4]^[5] Didirikan pada tahun 2017, Substack berkantor pusat di San Francisco, California.^[6]

Pengguna substack beragam; mulai dari jurnalis,^[7]^[8] hingga ahli dan situs media besar.^[9] Di antara penulis terkenal yang menggunakan platform ini adalah jurnalis dan penulis pemenang Penghargaan Pulitzer Glenn Greenwald, kritikus budaya Anne Helen Petersen, penulis esai musik Robert Christgau, dan penulis makanan Alison Roman.^[10] Penulis The New York Times Mike Isaac berpendapat pada tahun 2019 bahwa beberapa perusahaan ini melihat buletin sebagai sarana yang lebih stabil untuk mempertahankan pembaca melalui hubungan yang lebih langsung dengan penulis.^[11]
