Kata astana dalam bahasa Jawa memiliki dua makna: 1. tempat tinggal raja (istana dalam bahasa Indonesia), 2. pemakaman keluarga raja. Kata ini berasal dari bahasa Sansekerta sthana yang arti harafiahnya adalah tempat. Meursault2004 20:43, 5 Agustus 2005 (UTC)
