Scotty mengikuti kontes menyanyi "Clayton Idol" yang diselenggarakan Clayton Harvest Festival di Kota Clayton, Carolina Utara. Scotty juga merupakan salah satu dari 36 kontestan "Rip The Hallways", bersama dengan beberapa penyanyi remaja dari Carolina Utara.[2]
