Gubernur Sulsel Syahrul Yasin Limpo menyatakan, almarhum adalah gubernur yang mampu mengantar Sulsel menjawab eranya.

Almarhum bahkan dinilainya sebagai sosok gubernur yang telah banyak memberikan kontribusi kepada pemerintah dan negara pada zamannya untuk swasembada pangan.
