AS 314, juga dikenal sebagai V452 Scuti, adalah bintang hiper raksasa putih dan kandidat variabel biru bercahaya yang terletak di konstelasi dari Scutum. AS 314 memiliki magnitudo 9,85 dan dapat dilihat dengan teleskop kecil.
Karakteristik
[sunting | sunting sumber]AS 314 belum dipelajari dengan baik hingga tahun 2000, ketika Miroshnichenko et al menentukan jarak untuk bintang ini sekitar 10 kilo parsec (32.600 tahun cahaya), dengan luminositasnya 160.000 kali matahari (L☉), dan radius 200 kali jari-jari matahari (R☉), serta massa awal 20 massa matahari (M☉). Ia kehilangan 2 × 10−5 M☉ setiap tahun (dengan kata lain, 1 M☉ setiap 50.000 tahun) melalui angin bintang yang sangat kuat.[6]
Kelebihan inframerah pada Bintang ini, menunjukkan bahwa itu diselimuti amplop cincin bintang dari debu, yang mungkin menghasilkan ledakan di masa lalu sebagai variabel biru bercahaya, karena lokasinya di diagram Hertzsprung-Russell, posisinya dekat zona yang diduduki oleh bintang-bintang;[6][7] bagaimanapun, bintang ini belum diklasifikasikan sebagai variabel biru bercahaya, tetapi baru sebagai kandidat.[8]
