Gamma Cephei (γ Cep / γ Cephei), berada pada jarak 45 tahun cahaya dan merupakan salah satu bintang di rasi Cepheus. Gamma Cephei memiliki magnitudo 3.21. Bintang ini tergolong tipe K1III-IV dan merupakan bintang subraksasa jingga (orange subgiant. Gamma Cephei diperkirakan berusia sekitar 6.6 miliar tahun^[1]

Gamma Cephei dapat dilihat oleh mata telanjang di bawah Polaris. Bintang ini memiliki massa lebih kecil daripada Matahari (0.409 kali) Gamma Cephei B memiliki usia kurang lebih sama dengan komponen utamanya. Bintang ini akan menjadi Bintang (Kutub) Utara (North Star) pada sekitar tahun 3000.

Etimologi

Bintang ini memiliki nama Errai, Er Rai, atau Alrai, berasal dari bahasa Arab الراعي ar-rā‘ī, yang berarti "penggembala". Nama lain yang diberikan oleh para astronom adalah
