Antibodi E (bahasa Inggris: antibody E, immunoglobulin E, IgE) adalah jenis antibodi yang hanya dapat ditemukan pada mamalia. IgE memiliki peran yang besar pada alergi terutama pada hipersensitivitas tipe 1.[1]
IgE juga berperan dalam sistem imun yang merespon cacing parasit[2] (helminth) seperti Schistosoma mansoni, Trichinella spiralis, dan Fasciola hepatica,[3][4][5] serta terhadap parasit protozoa tertentu seperti Plasmodium falciparum,[6] dan artropoda.
Rasio IgE pada individu normal ("non-atopik") sekitar 0,002% terhadap total serum atau sekitar 0.05% terhadap IgG[7] dengan waktu paruh 2 hari, meskipun demikian IgE memiliki kemampuan untuk mengaktivasi respon kekebalan yang paling dahsyat jika dibandingkan dengan IgG dengan perannya dalam sistem imun adaptif yang sudah sangat klasik.
IgE ditemukan pada tahun 1966 oleh sepasang ilmuwan Jepang Teruka and Kimishige Ishizaka.[8]
Syok anafilaksis (bahasa Inggris: anaphylaxis) merupakan suatu reaksi alergi yang bersifat sistemik dan menyebabkan turunnya sistem sirkulasi tubuh dan kesulitan bernapas, merupakan akibat dari ikatan yang terjadi antara sel mast yang terdapat di seluruh jaringan tubuh dengan IgE sehingga menimbulkan sekresi mediator inflamasi.[9]
