Anak dari Mona Best, pemilik Liverpool's Casbah Club, di mana the Beatles bermain musik kadang-kadang, Best pertama diundang untuk bergabung pada 1959, kemudian bergabung kembali untuk residency mereka di Hamburg 1960–1961.
