Phryne (/ˈfraɪni/; bahasa Yunani Kuno: Φρύνη) (lahir skt. 371 SM) merupakan seorang Yunani Kuno wanita penghibur (Hetaira), dari abad ke-4 SM. Ia terkenal karena persidangannya oleh ketidakadilan, di mana ia dibela oleh orator Hypereides.
Kehidupan
Nama asli Phryne adalah Mnēsarétē (Μνησαρέτη, "memperingati kebajikan"), namun karena kulitnya yang kekuningan ia disebut Phrýnē ("Katak puru"). Ini adalah nama panggilan yang sering diberikan kepada pelacur dan prostitusi lainnya juga. Ia lahir sebagai putri Epikles di Thespiai, Boiotia, namun hidup di Athena. Tanggal pasti kelahiran dan kematiannya tidak diketahui, namun ia lahir pada sekitar tahun 371 SM. Pada tahun itu Thiva meruntuhkan Thespiai tidak lama setelah Pertempuran Leuktra dan mengusir penduduknya. Ia mungkin hidup lebih lama dari rekonstruksi Thebes pada tahun 315/316 SM.
