Eutropis adalah nama genus kadal dari suku Scincidae yang di Indonesia disebut sebagai bengkarung atau mengkarung. Akan tetapi, istilah tersebut secara luas juga meliputi kadal-kadal lain dari familia yang sama atau berbeda.[2]

Sebelumnya, sebagian besar jenis-jenis dari kadal ini digolongkan dalam genus Mabuya (genus ini sendiri mencakup kadal-kadal serupa yang terdapat di benua Amerika). Namun, para ahli herpetologi akhirnya mengelompokkan kelompok ini sebagai genus tersendiri, yaitu Eutropis untuk kelompok yang tersebar di Asia.[2]
