Michel Serres dilahirkan pada tanggal 1 September, 1930 di Agen, Perancis adalah seorang ahli filsafat dari Perancis yang juga seorang pengarang.
Terlahir sebagai anak laki-laki dari pekerja kapal tunda, dia masuk ke sekolah "Ecole Navale" di tahun 1949 dan École Normale Supérieure di tahun 1952. Namun ia menyelesaikan sekolahnya di tahun 1955, dan mulai belajar tentang ilmu filsafat. Dia menghabiskan beberapa tahun sebagai perwira angkatan laut sebelum akhirnya menerma gelar Doktoral-nya di tahun 1968, dan mulai mengajar di Paris.
