Species

Dalam taksonomi, Thermoproteus adalah genus dari Thermoproteaceae. Prokariota ini adalah organisme tergantung sulfur termofilik terkait dengan genera Sulfolobus, Pyrodictium dan Desulfurococcus.[1] Mereka autotrof hidrogen sulfur dan dapat tumbuh pada suhu hingga 95 °C.
