Yellow Magic Orchestra (イエロー・マジック・オーケストラ) atau disingkat YMO adalah grup musik Jepang yang dibentuk tahun 1978. Trio yang memainkan musik elektronik dengan synthesizer dan komputer ini dikenal sebagai perintis musik tekno di Jepang.

Album perdana mereka, Yellow Magic Orchestra kurang laku. Namun album kedua Solid State Survivor laku hingga di atas 2 juta keping, dan sekaligus mencuatkan nama YMO hingga ke luar Jepang.[1] Teknopop ala YMO yang dipengaruhi band asal Jerman Kraftwerk ini menjadi inspirasi bagi band lainnya, terutama The Plastics.[2]

Di puncak kejayaannya, YMO identik dengan kostum panggung setelan Mao berwarna merah dan model rambut cepak ketiga anggotanya. Model rambut ala YMO dengan cambang dipotong habis hingga di atas daun telinga, dikenal sebagai techno cut.

  • Yukihiro Takahashi (高橋幸宏, Takahashi Yukihiro) (drum, vokal)
Lahir: Meguro, Tokyo, 6 Juni 1952, mantan anggota Sadistic Mika Band dan Sadistics. Perancang kostum panggung YMO.
  • Ryuichi Sakamoto (坂本龍一, Sakamoto Ryūichi) (kibor)
Lahir: Nakano, Tokyo, Tokyo, 17 Januari 1952, satu-satunya anggota YMO yang lulusan akademi musik. Mantan musisi studio yang bergabung dengan YMO tahun 1978 setelah membantu rekaman album solo Hosono. Setelah YMO bubar, Ryuichi Sakamoto menjadi komponis musik film termasuk Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence dan The Last Emperor.
