Skandar Keynes (lahir Alexander Amin Casper Keynes)[1][2] (lahir 5 September 1991) adalah seorang aktor dari Britania Raya. Perannya yang paling dikenal adalah sebagai Edmund Pevensie dalam serial film The Chronicles of Narnia. Keynes sudah tampil dalam dua film pertama dalam seri ini, yaitu The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe dan The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, dan ia berperan juga dalam The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, yang dirilis pada tahun 2010.[3]

Biografi

Kehidupan pribadi

Keynes lahir di London. Ia merupakan putra dari Zelfa Cecil Hourani dan penulis Randal Keynes. Ia memiliki seorang kakak yang bernama Soumaya Anne Keynes (lahir 1989).

Keynes menyatakan bahwa ia adalah seorang atheis.[4][5]

Keynes saat ini tinggal di Highbury, London. Ia belajar Tae Kwon Do dan memainkan cornet, cello, tuba, seruling, dan gitar.

Pada tahun 2010, Keynes masuk Universitas Cambridge dengan jurusan Bahasa Arab dan Sejarah Timur Tengah. Keynes lulus dengan gelar Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies di Cambrigde dan masuk jajaran 16 mahasiswa terbaik di sana.

Skandar Keynes berperan sebagai Edmund Pevensie dalam film Prince Caspian

Ia mengikuti audisi (berhasil) untuk film The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe pada saat yang sama ketika ia mengikuti audisi (gagal) untuk peran Simon Brown di film Nanny McPhee.

Dia juga berperan dalam film Petualangan Dawn Treader, seri ketiga dari film The Chronicles of Narnia. Film dimulai pada bulan Juli dan selesai pada bulan November 2009. Film ini dirilis pada tanggal 10 Desember 2010 di Inggris dan Amerika Serikat.

Dari sisi ibunya, Keynes berdarah Lebanon, Persia, dan Turki[6] (nama Skandar berasal dari bahasa Pashto[7] atau "Alexander" dalam bahasa Yunani, dan Iskandar dalam bahasa Arab.[8])

Dari sisi ayahnya, Keynes adalah cucu dari fisiologis Richard Keynes, keponakan dari dua profesor Cambridge; sejarawan Simon Keynes, dan pakar neurologi Roger Keynes, serta cucu dari cucu buyut ekonom John Maynard Keynes.[9][10] Kakek moyangnya adalah naturalis Charles Darwin. Sedangkan kakek buyutnya adalah penerima Penghargaan Nobel Edgar Adrian dan Hester Adrian.[11]
