Michael De Luca (lahir 13 Agustus 1965) adalah produser film berkebangsaan Amerika Serikat yang juga dikenal sebagai penulis skenario.Namanya pernah dinobatkan sebagai nominator Academy Awards selama tiga kali.

Latar belakang

De Luca lahir dan tumbuh di Brooklyn, New York. Ibunya adalah imigran Jerman Yahudi immigrant, dan ayahnya berlatar belakang Katholik Roma dari Italia yang bekerja di ConEdison. De Luca mengawali kariernya dengan terjun ke dunia bisnis pertunjukan pada tahun1986. Originally tapped to work as a story editor, he rose fairly quickly through the ranks, thanks in part to his mentor, chair and co-founder Robert Shaye. De Luca did complete his degree from Tisch School of the Arts of New York University in 1995.

Pada tahun 1988, De Luca mengawali debutnya sebagai mitra produser dalam film Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III. De Luca telah mengoleksi buku-buku komik sejak usia muda dan menggemari komik fiksi ilmiah antara lain Star Trek. Tahun 1996, De Luca, menyatakan diri sebagai "Trekkie", yang kemudian didekati oleh produser Brannon Braga dan Ron Moore untuk penggarapan Star Trek: Voyager.

De Luca pernah menjadi anggota tim penulis cerita untuk film Judge Dredd tahun 1995.

Dia merupakan mantan pimpinan produksi New Line Cinema. Selama di New Line Cinema, dia terlibat di beberapa penggarapan film antara lain Seven, Friday, Boogie Nights, Austin Powers, Rush Hour, Blade dan Magnolia (1999). DeLuca menulis dan memproduseri film Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, bagian dari Nightmare on Elm Street.

Setelah di New Line Cinema, De Luca menjadi pemimpin produksi di DreamWorks (2001–2004).

Setelah kontraknya diperpanjang di DreamWorks, De Luca tercatat memproduksi film bersama Sony dan mendirikan rumah produksi Michael De Luca Productions. Film pertama yang dirilis di bawah bendera rumah produksinya adalah Ghost Rider (2007) yang dibintangi oleh Nicolas Cage, diikuti dengan 21 dan The Love Guru (2008) yang dibintangi oleh Mike Myers.

Nama De Luca pernah dinominasikan sebagai peraih penghargaan Oscar untuk kategori Best Picture melalui judul The Social Network (2010) dan Moneyball (2011). Selain itu, dia juga menerima nominasi untuk film Captain Phillips tahun 2014.

De Luca pernah memproduseri film daur ulang berjudul Fright Night yang pernah diproduksi tahun 2011. De Luca dan Dana Brunetti dipersatukan kembali dalam 50 Shades of Grey, sebuah film adaptasi yang dirilis pada  2015.

Kehidupan pribadi

Pada tahun 2009, dia menikahi pemeran Angelique Madrid (lahir 1974) dari Fort Worth, Texas, yang pernah menjadi kontestan The Bachelor musim pertama, yang diselenggarakan kanal ABC. Mereka dikaruniai seorang putri, Skylar (lahir 2008), dan putera, Caden (lahir 2012).
