Paul Virilio (lahir 1932) adalah filsuf, pengarang, Arsitek, perencana kota, kritikus fiilm sejarawan militer dan kurator pameran yang lahir di Perancis. Dia dikenal dengan pemikiran-pemikirannya mengenai kecepatan. Pertemuan pertamanya dalam mengamati kecepatan mesin perang pada awal Perang Dunia Kedua dan itu menjadi kejadian yang mendalam baginya, maka dari itu dia selalu menekankan bahwa "war was his university" atau perang adalah universitasnya.
Kehidupan dan Karir
Paul Vrilio lahir di Perancis pada tahun 1932 berdarah Italia dari ayahnya serta dari ibunya yang berasal dari pantai utara Brittany, tempat dimana ia dibesarkan.[1] Vrilio pada masa mudanya pernah dikenai wajib militer untuk membela Perancis dalam perang di Aljazair.[2] Profesinya dimulai sebagai profesor, direktur umum dan presiden dari Ecole Speciale d'Arhitecture di Paris.
