Sejarah Berlin dimulai dari abad ke-13, saat kota Berlin menjadi ibukota negara kecil Prusia. Prusia berkembang dengan pesat pada abad ke-18 hingga ke-19, juga menjadi basis bagi kerajaan Jerman di tahun 1871. Setelah tahun 1900,Berlin menjadi salah satu kota major dunia, yang dikenal karena majunya bidang ilmu alam, sosial, musik, museum, pendidikan, pemerintahan, diplomasi, serta milternya. Berlin juga mempunyai tempat khusus di bidang manufacturing dan keuangan. Selama Perang Dunia ke-2, Berlin cukup porak-poranda karena bom, senjata, dan pertarungan di jalan. Dengan bersatunya Jerman Barat dan Jerman Timur pada tahun 1990, Berlin dinobatkan sebagai ibu kota dan kota yang dikenal dunia.
