Akronim berulang (rekursif) adalah sebuah singkatan yang kepanjangannya mengacu kepada dirinya sendiri.
Contoh yang berhubungan dengan komputer
Dalam dunia komputer terdapat sebuah tradisi dalam komunitas peretas khususnya di kalangan MIT yang memilih akronim dan singkatan yang memiliki unsur humor mengacu kepada dirinya sendiri atau kepada akronim lain. Mungkin contoh pertamanya adalah "TINT" yang dicetuskan antara tahun 1977 atau 1978. TINT merupakan singkatan dari TINT Is Not TECO (TECO adalah sebuah editor untuk MagicSix). Hal ini kemudian diikuti dengan dua buah editor Lisp MIT yang dipanggil dengan EINE ("EINE Is Not Emacs") dan ZWEI ("ZWEI Was EINE Initially"). Akronim berulang umum (tetapi tidak selalu) diberikan sebagai nama perangkat lunak LINUX dan UNIX.
