Dalam Hinduisme dan dalam sebagian budaya Asia, cakra dipahami sebagai pusat energi metafisik dan/atau biofisis dalam tubuh manusia. Gerakan Zaman Baru dan, sampai tingkat tertentu, gerakan Pemikiran Baru yang sangat berbeda, juga telah mengadopsi dan mengembangkan teori ini.
Pengantar
Kata "cakra" berasal dari bahasa Sanskerta चक्र yang berarti "roda" atau "lingkaran" (juga kata-kata yang terkait dengan kedua kata tersebut), dan kadang-kadang juga merujuk kepada "roda kehidupan". Beberapa sumber tradisional menyebutkan ada lima atau tujuh cakra, yang lainnya menyebutkan delapan.
