Bloodbath adalah sebuah band death metal dari Swedia yang dibentuk pada tahun 2000. EP pertama mereka yang berjudul Breeding Death menampilkan Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) pada vokal, Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale, dll) pada drums, Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström (Katatonia, Diabolical Masquerade) pada gitar dan Jonas Renkse (Katatonia, October Tide) pada bass. Pada 2004 Mikael Åkerfeldt hengkang dari Bloodbath untuk berkonsentrasi pada Opeth. Untuk menggantikannya, Bloodbath memilih Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy).

That same year, Mikael Åkerfeldt rejoined the band for a single live show at [[Germany]]'s [[Wacken|Wacken Open Air Festival]] on [[August 5th]].  Prior to the show, the band commented that Wacken might "not only be the first, but also the last gig for Bloodbath" (with Mikael Åkerfeldt on vocals).
