Wikizine

Hi, I am w:nl:gebruiker:Walter of the dutch Wikipedia. I am writing you because your are listed as ambassador of your wiki. I have something to say that I think you will find useful and possibly others of your wiki also.

You know it is not easy for the members of a local wiki to be informed about what is going on in the higher levels of the Wikimedia family. This because of the language problem and the high level of fragmentation of places where you can find information.

I am now making a weekly news letter (Wikizine) that attempts to provide the news of the Wikimedia projects. The concept is to list only a very short description of the news an give the relevant url to the subject. I want it to be short, only give the news that is important for all projects. The target audience include the ambassadors. It is for people who are interested in what it going on outside there own wiki. I emphasize on the news that is practical-technical. The information comes form several "news"-pages on several wikis, the mailinglists and IRC. There will be news I can not discover. If you have news found somewhere or from you own wiki please let my know. wikizine AT wikipedia.be

I can only create one version in something that supposed to be English. I count on the readers to inform there local wiki about the news in there own language.

Wikizine is send by use of the mailinglist Announce-l. It is only used for this. So people can subscribe without being swamped by emails like the lists.

http://mail.wiki-indonesia.club/mailman/listinfo/announce-l

I hope that you and others of your wiki will subscribe to Wikizine and give feedback. So that Wikizine can become really a source where Wikimedians can find out what is going on. Greetings, w:nl:gebruiker:Walter PS: do not repond here. I will not see it.

Impersonation

I am Ryulong of the English Wikipedia, and last night, as a last resort for impersonation at several other Wikipedias, I registered as Ryulong wherever I could, and I was able to here. However, another user who has impersonated me at other Wikipedias has registered under the name "Ryulong-en" which I do at Wikipedias where I am being impersonated. I need assistance in dealing with this impersonator. Any help I can receive on this matter will be good. I can be contacted via e-mail here or at the English Wikipedia.Ryulong 23:02, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorting of Indonesian names

I notice that the sortkeys for Indonesian names on this Wikipedia generally use the last name of people, even when that last name is a patronymic or a given name. For example Megawati Soekarnoputri is sorted as {{DEFAULTSORT:Soekarnoputri, Megawati}}. Is this normal practice in Indonesia? Is that how names are sorted in phonebooks, for example? 18:47, 25 Oktober 2007 (UTC) en:User:Haukurth

In phonebooks names are sorted quite arbritarly I think. However I cannot check it yet. Wait for the others. Meursault2004ngobrol 19:05, 25 Oktober 2007 (UTC)
Well, I'd be interested in anything you could tell me on the alphabetization of Indonesian names and why Indonesians are sorted by last name on this Wikipedia. 16:01, 27 Oktober 2007 (UTC) en:User:Haukurth
If I'm not mistaken the names in phonebooks are sorted by first name, except for the names with margas (e.g. Batak names), they are sorted by the margas. Arkwatem 16:47, 27 Oktober 2007 (UTC)
Very interesting, thank you! Do you have any idea why categories on the Indonesian Wikipedia are sorted by last name? For example if you look at Kategori:Politikus Indonesia you'll find Eddy Santana Putra under P. Putra is not a marga, is it? 20:00, 28 Oktober 2007 (UTC) en:User:Haukurth
There is a page here explaining how to sort: Bantuan:Kategori#Mengurutkan_kategori This explains that to sort Try Sutrisno as "Sutrisno, Try" you use {{DEFAULTSORT:Sutrisno, Try}} But I still don't understand why you'd want to sort Indonesians like that if that's not the way they're usually sorted. en:User:Haukurth 11:25, 29 Oktober 2007 (UTC)

What do they want?

I was sent an email from this Wikipedia with the title: "Halaman Pembicaraan Pengguna:MacGyverMagic di Wikipedia telah dibuat oleh Borgxbot". Unfortunately, I do not speak Indonesian. And the email didn't say who sent it. Can someone help me translate or track down the sender?

I think http://wiki-indonesia.club/wiki/Pembicaraan_Pengguna:MacGyverMagic is my discussion page, but the other links in the email make no sense to me.
