Shane Black (lahir 16 Desember 1961)[1] adalah pembuat film dan aktor Amerika yang telah menulis film seperti Lethal Weapon, The Monster Squad, The Last Boy Scout, Last Action Hero, dan The Long Kiss Goodnight. Sebagai seorang aktor, Black terkenal karena perannya sebagai Rick Hawkins di Predator (1987).

Dia membuat debut penyutradaraannya dengan film Kiss Kiss Bang Bang pada tahun 2005. Black melanjutkan untuk menulis dan menyutradarai Iron Man 3 (2013), The Nice Guys (2016) dan The Predator (2018).[2][3]

Pada tahun 2020, filmnya Iron Man 3 peringkat sebagai film terlaris kedua puluh di seluruh dunia.[4]

Masa muda

Black lahir dan besar di Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,[5] putra Paul dan Patricia Ann Black. Ayahnya berada di bisnis percetakan,[1] dan membantu Black tertarik pada hardboiled fiksi, seperti karya-karya Mickey Spillane dab Matt Helm seri.[6]

Setelah tinggal di pinggiran kota Lower Burrell dan Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, keluarganya pindah ke Fullerton, California, selama tahun kedua sekolah menengahnya.[5] Di sana dia hadir Sunny Hills High School[7] dan nanti UCLA di mana ia mengambil jurusan film dan teater dan lulus pada tahun 1983.[8] Sementara Black memiliki sejarah panjang dalam menulis komik, cerita pendek, dan jurnalisme, hanya selama tahun seniornya dia memutuskan untuk mencari nafkah dari itu setelah teman sekelasnya. Fred Dekker menunjukkan kepadanya naskah fiksi ilmiah yang dia buat untuk sebuah tugas.[6] Kakak laki-laki hitam, Terry Black juga menulis cerita pendek dan memutuskan untuk pindah ke skenario dimulai dengan tahun 1988 Dead Heat, di mana Shane memiliki cameo.[9]
