Kekaisaran Nikea adalah negara terbesar di antara tiga negara penerus Kekaisaran Romawi Timur.[1][2] Negeri ini didirikan oleh para aristokrat yang melarikan diri dari Konstantinopel setelah kota tersebut direbut oleh Tentara Salib selama Perang Salib Keempat. Kekaisaran Nikea didirikan oleh keluarga Laskaris[3] dan berdiri dari tahun 1204 hingga 1261, saat Nikea berhasil merebut Konstantinopel dan mendirikan kembali Kekaisaran Romawi Timur.
