Yamaha MT-09 adalah sepeda motor berjenis Standar/Naked Bike yang termasuk kedalam seri MT dengan mesin sebesar 847–890 cc (51,7–54,3 cu in) liquid-cooled 4-stroke 12-valve DOHC 3 silinder segaris dengan crossplane crankshaft,[1][9] rangka paduan yang ringan.[5] Untuk tahun 2018, motor ini sekarang bernama MT-09 di semua pasar.[10]
Perancangan dan pengembangan[sunting | sunting sumber]
MT-09 bersaing dengan Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z900 dan MV Agusta Brutale 800.[11] Hal ini dimaksudkan untuk mengembalikan kekayaan Yamaha, karena pabrik dalam beberapa tahun terakhir kehilangan reputasinya untuk inovasi.[12] Manajer produk MT-09, Shun Miyazawa, mengatakan Yamaha telah mempertimbangkan mesin jenis parallel-twins, 3 silinder, 4 silinder, dan V-twins, tetapi mesin inline-3 silinder memberikan "solusi terbaik" untuk tenaga, torsi, dan bobot rendah. Membandingkan MT-09 dengan Street Triple, dia mengatakan Triumph adalah streetfighter, tapi Yamaha adalah "roadster motard".[13]
Frame dan lengan ayun dua sisi terbuat dari paduan ringan yang dicetak menjadi dua bagian. Pengecoran rangka dibaut bersama di headstock dan di belakang, tetapi bagian lengan ayun dilas bersama.[13] MT-09 adalah sepeda motor Yamaha pertama sejak XS750 dan XS850 yang ditenagai oleh mesin tiga silinder. Keduanya merupakan sepeda motor berpenggerak poros yang diproduksi dari tahun 1976 hingga 1981.
Pada tahun 2017, MT-09 diperbarui dengan suspensi yang dapat disetel sepenuhnya, kontrol traksi, ABS, lampu depan LED, dan gaya yang diperbarui agar lebih agresif.[2]
Pada bulan Oktober 2020, MT-09 menerima pembaruan kedua dengan tampilan yang lebih besar dengan mesin 890 cc (54 cu in).[14]
