Philip E. Nelson (kelahiran 1934[1]) adalah ilmuwan pangan Amerika Serikat yang dikenal dalam pengembangannya mengenai pemrosesan dan pengemasan pangan menggunakan gas klorin dioksida dan cairan hidrogen peroksida untuk sterilisasi produk pangan. Ia merupakan profesor bidang Pengolahan Pangan di Departemen Ilmu Pangan Universitas Purdue. Ia menerima Penghargaan Pangan Dunia pada tahun 2007 untuk karyanya mengenai penyimpanan pangan secara aseptik.[2][3]
Nelson merupakan presiden Institute of Food Technologists pada tahun 2001-2002. Ia menerima penghargaan dari IFT berupa Food Technology Industrial Achievement Award pada tahun 1976 dan 1980, Nicholas Appert Award tahun 1995, dan Carl R. Fellers Award tahun 2005.
Ia pensiun dari aktivitas mengajar di Purdue pada tahun 2010. Sebuah aula di Gedung Ilmu Pangan di Purdue dinamai Philip E. Nelson Hall of Food Science untuk menghargai jasanya.[4]
