HD 179949 b adalah sebuah planet ekstrasurya yang ditemukan oleh Anglo-Australian Planet Search di Observatorium Anglo-Australia, yang mengorbit bintang HD 179949. Planet tersebut disebut "Jupiter panas", sebuah planet bermassa Jupiter yang mengorbit sangat dekat dengan bintang induknya. Dalam hal tersebut, jarak orbit hampir sepersepuluh dari Merkurius ke Matahari. Satu revolusi keorbitannya hanya berlangsung sekitar 3 hari.[3][4]
