Hi,

Editing the user interface requires adminstrator/sysop rights. I am going to request to a developer that

1. you are given administration rights on this wikipedia (see meta:Interwiki requests for adminship)
2. I also be granted admininstrator rights so that I can help you set up the localisation.
3. the Malay interface and logo are copied over here, since it will probably be faster to translate just the parts that don't work for Indonesian.

So fare I still have not gotten adminstrator access for both of us. There is some busyness with installation of the new servers and everything, but it will eventually happen.

I also wanted to point out that there is a new way of writing tables, which I think you will find a lot more readable and convenient. Take a look at ms:Pengguna:Kowey/Templates/Negara and edit the page to see what the table looks like. You might like it. -- Kowey 21:12, 20 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Also, btw, the user MediaWiki Default is actually just a script, completely automated. You probably don't want to override any changes by it. You should also look at meta:LanguageId.php. Some of the messages are only editable there (near the top of the file). -- Kowey 15:05, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)

ok... notice when you load this page (you might have to do Shift-reload to get the latest copy), on the left hand column of MediaWiki:Semua pesanan, there are links? If you click on one of these links, you can the edit the page for that message, and that will update the system. I noticed your changes to meta:LanguageMs.php. Are those Indonesian only, or do they also work in Malay? I'm asking because you're editing the Malay file, naturally. Keep it up!

Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia has a much better situation than you think. For starters, users like Djoko or Cogito are pretty active, like Mohammad Najib and Dekoelie. One thing I like here is that you have more of the type of articles I'd like to see in an encyclopedia -- actual learning material, instead of just lists of facts. Of course, it's still at a dictionary phase of things, but that's because the game is still early.

As for the sysops, you might want to make a page like ms:Wikipedia:Penyelia to get organised for when the second local sysop comes around. Once ms and id both have about 2 or 3 local sysops, I'll probably retire and spend my energy thinking of technological solutions to making ms/id work more closely together.

I see that some "native Indonesians", such as Pengguna:Enda 001 and folks in user lists have been joined. It will be worth for furnishing some idioms used in this Wiki that are listened "strange" for us, Indonesians. If you'd like, I can prepare one page contains list of words that need to be adjust in order to get proper meaning.

Saya ada sedikit usul, bagaimana kalau istilah "kotak pasir" diganti saja dengan "bak pasir"?

Menurut saya istilah ini lebih cocok untuk mewakili "tempat yang digunakan untuk bermain-main mencoba membuat suatu hal artikel Wikipedia" (karena dalam bahasa Indonesia istilah "bak pasir" berarti tempat anak-anak bermain membuat bangunan dari tanah, bermain-main, dsb. -- hampir sama artinya dengan hal yang dimaksud dalam Wikipedia)

Selain itu, istilah "sandbox" (istilah aslinya) dalam bahasa Inggris, artinya adalah: "Plaything consisting of a pile of sand or a box filled with sand for children to play in".

Nah, melihat hal-hal di atas, saya kira akan cocok bila "kotak pasir" diganti dengan "bak pasir" saja.

Wow...

Hey there. Wow! I've been rather busy lately and haven't had time to visit id very much. It looks like you guys are growing very nicely over here. Since you pretty much know your way around the system now, it is probably a good time for me to be saying good bye.

I'll ask the good stewards to remove my administrator rights, since I probably won't be using them. I suggest that id should get one or two new administrators, to balance things out and lighten the load, but maybe it's a tad too early for that.

Other than that, I hope you guys can find interesting ways to cooperate with ms.wikipedia. One possibility is in the new Wiktionary Melayu. Maybe we can't have a common Malay/Indonesian encyclopedia because of the language differences, but perhaps a common dictionary might be easier to work on together.
