Retrokognisi, dari Latin retro berarti "mundur, di belakang" dan kognisi berarti "mengetahui", yaitu persepsi akan kejadian di masa lalu atau bisa mengetahui sebuah peristiwa yang telah terjadi pada masa lalu.[1] Pada beberapa peristiwa pembunuhan, ada saja polisi yang memanfaatkan jasa seseorang berkemampuan psi untuk melihat kembali runtut kejadiannya. Mereka dibawa ke lokasi kejadian, dan diminta untuk menceritakan apa yang telah terjadi dimasa lalu.[2] [3]
