Kereta api Lokal Bandung Raya atau KRD Ekonomi atau KRD^[1] adalah sebuah kereta api lokal komuter yang beroperasi di wilayah Daop II Bandung, Kereta api ini terdiri atas 4 rangkaian kereta api yang melayani rute Padalarang ke Cicalengka atau sebaliknya dan berhenti di setiap stasiun yang dilewatinya, kecuali Stasiun Gedebage dan Stasiun Andir.

Kereta api ini ditarik oleh Lokomotif CC 201, CC 203 dan terkadang CC 206 milik Dipo Lokomotif Bandung pada umumnya. Kereta api ini sering disebut "KRD" (Kereta rel diesel) oleh masyarakat karena rangkaiannya menggunakan kereta ekonomi hasil modifikasi bekas KRD MCW 301 buatan tahun 1970-an serta seringkali juga menggunakan kereta ekonomi biasa pada umumnya, di mana penggunaan antara kedua jenis model kereta ekonomi ini tidak tetap pada setiap rangkaiannya.

Walaupun sebagian gerbong menggunakan kereta eks. KRD, tetapi semua gerbong sudah dipasangi AC (Berbeda dengan gerbong eks. KRD pada Kereta api Langsam di Jakarta yang belum dipasang AC karena masalah pintu yang tidak bisa tertutup rapat). Gerbong KA Lokal Bandung Raya sudah menggunakan Livery Kesepakatan (yang baru).

Dahulu di Kereta api Lokal Bandung Raya banyak pedagang asongan, gelandangan, pengemis, copet, pengamen, calo tiket, bahkan orang yang tidak kebagian tiket nekat naik ke atap kereta. Sejak zaman Pak Ignasius Jonan menjadi Dirut PT.KAI, hal tersebut sudah tidak ada karena mengganggu penumpang.

Asal Usul Nama

Nama BAndung RAYA sendiri berasal dari Bahasa Sunda yaitu "baraya" yang berarti saudara,yang diperpanjang menjadi BANDUNG RAYA. Ada pula yang beranggapan bahwa nama BANDUNG RAYA adalah karena kereta api ini melewati Wilayah Bandung Raya (kecuali Kabupaten Sumedang), yaitu :

Kapasitas KA

Kapasitas yang ditawarkan dalam satu rangkaian kereta api ini adalah sekitar 600 kursi. Dalam penyelenggaraannya dapat melebihi 50% dari kapasitas kursi yang tersedia dalam satu rangkaian kereta api dan dijual sebagai tiket tanpa tempat duduk atau berdiri, dalam hal ini pun terdapat batasan jumlah tiket yang dijual pada setiap jadwal di stasiun keberangkatan maupun stasiun persinggahan, stasiun keberangkatan awal dibatasi kurang lebih sekitar 500 tiket dan stasiun persinggahan 50 hingga 100 tiket per jadwalnya, kebijakan ini diberlakukan dalam rangka memenuhi kenyamanan yang dibutuhkan oleh penumpang kereta api ini, serta secara hukum dalam rangka pelaksanaan Undang-Undang Nomor 23 Tahun 2007 tentang Perkeretaapian.

Per 16 Januari 2015 KA Lokal Bandung Raya ditambah jadwal perjalananya menjadi 20 kali PP. Rangkaiannya menggunakan bekas Kereta api Penataran Ekspres.

Tarif KA Lokal Bandung Raya

Per 1 April 2015 KA Lokal Bandung Raya mengalami kenaikan tarif, dengan rincian:

Cicalengka - Bandung p.p atau Padalarang - Bandung p.p dikenakan tarif sebesar Rp4.000,-
Cicalengka - Padalarang p.p dikenakan tarif sebesar Rp5.000,-
