USS Lexington (CV-2), (Julukan: "Lady Lex"),[1] merupakan kapal induk yang dibangun untuk Angkatan Laut Amerika Serikat.
Penemuan bangkai kapal
Pada 4 Maret 2018, kapal penelitian RV Petrel menemukan bangkai kapal Lexington selama ekspedisi menuju Laut Karang yang dipimpin oleh Paul Allen. Bangkai kapal terletak pada 2 mil (3 km) di bawah permukaan dan 430 mil laut (800 km) dari tepi pantai Queensland.[2][3][4] Sebuah kendaraan bawah laut yang dikendalikan dengan pengendali jarak jauh mengonfirmasi identitas bangkai kapal tersebut dengan menemukan plang nama di buritan. Bangkai kapal itu terpecah menjadi tiga bagian, dengan posisi bagian utama berdiri tegak. Bagian haluan dan buritannya terletak satu mil ke arah barat, dan berseberangan satu sama lain, dengan jembatan yang terbentang di antara bagian-bagian haluan dan buritan. Pesawat-pesawat terbangnya terletak jauh ke barat, semuanya dalam keadaan yang baik. Pesawat tersebut terdiri dari tujuh Devastator, tiga Dauntless, dan sebuah Wildcat.[5]
