Mayor Jenderal Thomas Francis Farrell (3 Desember 1891 – 11 April 1967) adalah Deputi Komando Jenderal dan Ketua Operasi Lapangan Proyek Manhattan, dengan bertindak sebagai pejabat eksekutif pada Mayor Jenderal Leslie R. Groves, Jr.
Farrell lulus dari Institut Politeknik Rensselaer dengan sebuah gelar dalam bidang teknik sipil pada 1912.
Pada Agustus 1945, ia datang ke Tinian untuk memimpin pengeboman Hiroshima dan Nagasaki. Setelah itu, ia memimpin tim ilmuwan untuk meneliti dampak bom atom.
Kehidupan awal
Thomas Francis Farrell lahir pada 3 Desember 1891 di Brunswick, New York, sebagai anak keempat dari sembilan bersaudara dari pasangan John Joseph Farrell, Sr., seorang petani, dan istrinya Margaret née Connolly.[1] Farrell dibesarkan di kabun milik keluarganya yang memiliki luas 200-ekar (81 ha), dimana ayahnya menanam apel, dan membesarkan babi-babi dan sapi-sapi. Anak-anak membantu mengerjakan kebun, dan mengirim susu, namun tidak ada yang singgah ketika dewasa.[2] Farrell lulus dari Institut Politeknik Rensselaer pada 1912.[3] Pekerjaan profesional pertamanya adalah bekerja pada New York State Barge Canal. Ia bekerja di Terusan Panama dari 1913 sampai 1916.[2]
