Ploceus

Ploceus adalah genus burung dalam keluarga penenun, Ploceidae. Mereka berasal dari alam Indomalayan dan Afrotropis.

Taksonomi

Genus Ploceus diperkenalkan oleh naturalis Perancis Georges Cuvier pada tahun 1816.^[1] Jenis spesies tersebut kemudian ditetapkan sebagai penenun baya.^[2] Nama genusnya berasal dari bahasa Yunani Kuno πλοκευς plokeus yang berarti "penenun", dan berasal dari kata Yunani πλεκω plekō "melilitkan".^[3]
