Penggunting-laut Manx (Puffinus puffinus) adalah Penggungting-laut berukuran sedang dalam familia burung laut, yaitu Procellariidae. Nama spesies ini tercatat mengalami pergeseran nama: Penggunting-laut Manx dipanggil puffin manx di abad ke-17. Puffin merupakan kata dalam bahasa Anglo-Norman (bahasa Inggris Pertengahan: pophyn) untuk sembuh dari bangkai anak burung penggunting laut. Puffin Atlantik mendapat namanya kemudian, mungkin karena kebiasaannya yang mirip bersarang.[1]
