Hijra adalah sebutan bagi seseorang yang mengubah jenis kelaminnya di Asia Selatan. Umumnya, kaum Hijra adalah seseorang yang mengubah jenis kelaminnya dari laki-laki menjadi perempuan. Seperti halnya kehidupan kaum transgender di berbagai belahan dunia, Hijra adalah kaum terpinggirkan. Mereka dikucilkan oleh masyarakat di sekitarnya yang tidak bisa menerima kehadiran kaum transgender.
