Please note that ultimately all breed standard documents should also be cited in the main article prose for specific facts about the breed (usually appearance), and URLs to them in citation templates should also have archiveurl versions.

Parameter

All fields are optional. URLs should be entered as is, without wiki markup except for the "otherstd" field.

Basic parameters
 • name: Breed name.
 • image: Image file of the breed. Enter as Example.jpg instead of Image:Example.jpg or File:Example.jpg
 • imagecaption: Caption that describes the image (e.g. gender, coat pattern and color, etc.)
 • altname: Other names by which the breed is known by English speakers. If more than one name, separate with
• nickname: Common nicknames. If more than one name, separate with
. If there are no nicknames in reputable sources, remove parameter to discourage the addition of made up examples.
 • country: Country or region/area of origin.
International registries
 • fifestd2: URL to a second Fédération Internationale Féline breed standard. Use this when FIFé has two separate breed standards for variants of the breed (e.g. Seychellois Longhair and Seychellois Shorthair), typically handled as two divisions in one breed standard in other registries
 • fifeterm: characters to link (e.g. "SH") from for fifestd when fifestd2 is also used; defaults to "1"
 • fifeterm2: characters to link (e.g. "LH") from for fifestd2; defaults to "2"
Major national/regional registries
Sub-national and minor national registries
 • acfastd2: URL to a second American Cat Fanciers Association/Cat Aficionado Association breed standard. Use this when the ACFA/CAA has two separate breed standards for variants of the breed (e.g. American Bobtail Longhair and American Bobtail Shorthair), typically handled as two divisions in one breed standard in other registries
 • acfaterm: characters to link (e.g. "SH") from for acfastd when acfastd2 is also used; defaults to "1"
 • acfaterm2: characters to link (e.g. "LH") from for acfastd2; defaults to "2"
 • cffstd: URL to the Cat Fanciers' Federation breed standard. Find it here. This registry principally covers the US Northeast, especially Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Ohio and Rhode Island.
Other parameters
 • otherstd: URLs to standards of other registries can be added here. It should be added as a typical external link with the registry acronym as link title. If more than one entry, separate with
for spacing. One registry that includes many experimental breeds that may not be found in other registries yet is CATZ (New Zealand), and all of their breeds standards are in the same file – http://catzinc.org/documents/2009Standards.pdf – Hingga November 2011. It need not be added via otherstd to all breeds' articles, but may help establish that new breeds actually exist and are recognized as breeds by at least one authority instead of having to flag the article with notrecognized
 • note: Major registries that do not recognize the breed can be mentioned here. E.g.: "Not recognized by FIFe and GCCF."
Special parameters

There are two special parameters that can be used in place of those for links to breed standards:

 • extinct=y: Shows an "Extinct" message. This parameter should be removed if not used.
 • notrecognized=y or notrecognised=y: Shows a "Not recognized as a formal breed by any major registry." message. The |notrecognised=y version outputs Commonwealth English -ised spelling. This parameter should be removed if not used.

If a "notrecogni[s|z]ed" or "extinct" parameter is used, all URL fields should be removed. (A link to a former breed recognition document should be added as a regular source citation).

Another special parameter is for hybrids:

 • x The value of the parameter is the wikilinked binomial (scientific name), with Felis abbreviated as F., of the non-domestic cat to which domestics have been bred to produce the hybrid. E.g., a value of "|x=[[Felis chaus|F. chaus]]" outputs a result of "Hybrid cat, Felis catus × F. chaus" at the bottom of the infobox, instead of "Domestic cat, Felis catus".

Another special parameter is for non-breed types:

 • landrace=y indicates that the article subject is a landrace, general type or other classification of cat that is not a formal breed. This parameter should not be used with any breed standards parameters, or it indicates that the article is about both a landrace and a same- or similarly-named formal breed, and thus needs to split into separate articles.

Pendaftar tidak termasuk

There is no parameter for adding a World Felinology Federation (WFF, serving Russia and the CIS) URL at this time, as WFF does itself publish breed standards, hingga March 2013. A parameter for ICF has not been added (yet?) as this organization has not been identified. CATZ (New Zealand) is not included, as it is a for-profit company, not an association/federation. If you need to cite one of their standards, use |otherstd= to do so.

Pengujian perubahan

There is a "development" version of this template at Template:Infobox cat breed/sandbox, and several inclusions at Template:Infobox cat breed/testcases. Please test any changes there before making them here: there are several special cases which are easily overlooked. In the event that the development version of the template is older than the current version, copy all the text down to the separator into the development page.
