Athens (dulu dikenal sebagai Athens-Clarke County) adalah sebuah consolidated city–county di dalam wilayah negara bagian Georgia, Amerika Serikat, di bagian timur laut negara bagian ini, mencakup bekas kota "Athens proper" (pusat pemerintahan) dan Clarke County. University of Georgia terletak di kota universitas ini, dan berkontribusi pada pertumbuhan mula-mula. [sunting | sunting sumber]Clarke County School District mendukung pendidikan dari kelas pra sekolah dasar sampai kelas 12. Distrik ini mencakup 14 sekolah dasar, 4 sekolah menengah pertama dan 3 sekolah menengah atas (satu non-tradisional).[9] Distrik ini mencatat 791 guru full-time dan 11.457 murid pada tahun 2010.[10]

[sunting | sunting sumber]- The University of Georgia (UGA), the state's flagship public research university, is the oldest and largest institution of higher learning in Georgia. Founded in 1785, it was the first state-chartered university in the United States.[11]
- Athens Technical College is a Technical College System of Georgia public college. It offers certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees in business, health, technical, and manufacturing-related fields.[12]
- Piedmont College[13] established a campus in Athens in 1995.[14][15]
