Charles Hodge adalah tokoh teologi sistematika.[1][2] Ia juga seorang pengajar di Princeton Theological University.[1][2] Ia memberikan pengaruh kepada generasi berikutnya untuk menjadikan sekolah tersebut pusat intelektual teologi konservatif yang mutakir.[1] Pemikirannya mengenai ketidakbersalahan Alkitab adalah hak dan fakta firman Tuhan; perkataan Allah yang diinspirasikan oleh Roh Kudus.[1] Doktrin gereja adalah inspirasi yang dipengaruhi ole Roh Kudus dalam pikiran memilih orang-orang yang terbaik, yang mana diberikan hak menjadi bagian Allah yang tidak dapat salah dalam berkomunikasi.[1] Ketika seseorang mengatakan bahwa ia adalah bagian dari tubuh Allah maka apa yang dikatakannya adalah perkataan Allah.[1] Namun patut diingat, ketika Allah menggunakan ciptaanNya menjadi instrumen, Ia menggunakannya berdasarkan kodratnya.[1] Manusia adalah agen sukarela yang pandai. Allah dalam tidak akan membuat dengan tidak sadar dan tidak rasional.[1] Itu adalah manusia yang spesial namun tidak sepenuhya dapat dapat bebas. Pemikiran Hodge mengenai manusia menjadi awal dalam penjelajahannya mengenai teologi sistematika.[1]
