Dalam beberapa hal, daftar [[wilayah urban di Uni Eropa]] akan memberikan jumlah yang lebih baik dimengerti terhadap ukuran kota dengan wilayah metropolitan juga termasuk wilayah non-[[wilayah urban|urban]] dan pinggiran kota dan perbatasan administratif untuk kota yang sering memotong wilayah urban. Daftar [[Wilayah Urban Besar (LUZ) di Uni Eropa]] juga diberikan oleh [[Eurostat]], kantor statistik Uni Eropa, menyediakan data baru untuk wilayah metropolitan UE. Daftar di bawah berisi kota yang bukan bagian dari Uni Eropa dan tidak menguntungkan dari definisi baru yang digunakan oleh Eurostat dan Kantor Statistik Nasional Uni Eropa.

Daftar ini juga termasuk [[konurbasi]] multisentris yang tidak didasarkan pada kota sentral tunggal. Tambahannya, jumlah di bawah hanya perkiraan kasar yang berdasarkan pada nilai pertumbuhan bersejarah.
