SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) is one of 21 centres of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) focuses in the field of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and envisioning to be the centre of expertise of ODL within the region. The goal of SEAMOLEC is to undertake relevant programs that are responsive to current national and regional needs through the utilization of ODL system. SEAMOLEC’s mission is to assist SEAMEO member countries in identifying educational problems and finding alternative solutions for sustainable development through the dissemination and effective use of ODL.

SEAMOLEC’s core programs are divided into 4, they are;

There are 6 divisions running SEAMOLEC program;

History

Education (Pustekkom), Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC) of Indonesia. On 14 March 2007 SEAMOLEC’s new building was inaugurated by Minister of National Education of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. BambangSudibyo, MBA. The new building is located in the compound of Open University of Indonesia (Universitas Terbuka) and it is a three-story building. 

Trainings 

  • The custom-designed training programs and new initiatives as responses to the changing needs and new challenges have been encouraged to increase responsiveness and relevance of the training services to various clients in the region. Continuous creative efforts in developing new initiatives have been a must to forge the training program ahead and signify excellent services of the Centre. SEAMOLEC offered four Major Training Program that developed based on Government Regulation/Policies and innovation technology development: 1. SEA Digital Class (Collaborative Learning, Web Conference Technology, Online Assessment) 2. System of Learning Information Development/SOLID (Accreditation Improvement Assistance and ISO System Development) 3. SEA EduNet 2.0 (Virtual Class Management, Lecturing Video Development, Digital Book Multimedia-based Development, Visual Animation Presentation) 4. Digital Simulation (Master Trainer Certification Program) The other training programs also conducted based on client needs and collaboration program: 1. SEAMOLEC Multi Studio (Learning Video-based Development) 2. ICT and Pedagogical Competencies of Meaningful and Creative Learning Development 3. Web Development 4. Online Course Development (Moodle) 5. ICT Integration on Teaching and Learning (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced) 6. SEA Digital Library 7. Game-based Learning for Autistic Children 8. Android-based Learning 9. Animation Presentation (Video Scribe, Blender) 10. Technopreneur Curriculum Integration 11. School Development Plan 12. Internet Network System 13. Google Utilization of Teaching and Learning 14. Open and Distance Learning System Development 15. Self-learning materials Development (Module Writing) 16. Basic Korean Language 17. ICT-based German Language Learning 18. School Management (Green School and Capacity Building)

To increase SEAMOLEC marketing program, the Centre direction setting that publication is one of the major activities that should be accomplished. SEAMOLEC’s publications attempt to share information and circulate programs regarding Open and Distance Learning (ODL) throughout Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The publications also put forward social issues, making public aware of the existence of the Centre in its operations, services, and products. SEAMOLEC has published certain publications that were done in two types (printed and digital) as follows:

Printed Publication

1.      Leaflet, Brochure and Booklet. Provide general description on the Centre including vision, mission, rationale, function, and organization of SEAMOLEC. The leaflet, brochure, booklet will be updated from time to time as may deem necessary.

2.      Newsletter. The newsletter “SEAMOLEC Info” is published three times a year, with special concern in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) issues and activities of the Centre.

3.      Annual Report. Report of SEAMOLEC programs based on its activities conducted from July to June and published once a year. This report is made to support as the Centre information for SEAMEO Council Conference, High Official Meeting, Centre Directors Meeting, and SEAMOLEC Governing Board Meeting.

4.      Poster. A poster is made especially for exhibition purpose to attract attention of people and made them aware to SEAMOLEC programs and activities

5.      Journal. A collection of research in Open and Distance Learning from various Universities in Indonesia.

Digital Publication

1.      Updating SEAMOLEC Website.

SEAMOLEC continues to update information in its website. The information, provided in the website consists of: Centre profile, programs, partners/ linkage, publications, etc.

The website can be accessed at http://www.seamolec.org. 

2.      Video Production In introducing SEAMOLEC profile and programs.

SEAMOLEC has produced video program of SEAMOLEC Profile annually.
