Enrico Nicola "Henry" Mancini (16 April 1924 – 14 Juni 1994)[1] adalah seorang komponis, konduktor, dan pengaransemen Amerika, paling dikenang untuk film dan sejumlah televisi. Dia memenangkan sejumlah rekor Grammy Awards (20), ditambah Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award secara anumerta pada 1995. Karya-karyanya yang paling terkenal meliputi tema jazz-idiom untuk serial film The Pink Panther (kelak lagu tersebut juga digunakan sebagai lagu tema film Warkop DKI), serial televisi Peter Gunn Theme, dan kembali mendapatkan Academy Awards untuk lagu "Moon River" dari film Blake Edwards Breakfast at Tiffany's dan "Days of Wine and Roses" dari film Edwards' Days of Wine and Roses.
Awal kehidupan
[sunting | sunting sumber]Mancini lahir di lingkungan Little Italy di Cleveland, Ohio, dan dibesarkan di dekat Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, di kota baja Aliquippa Barat, Pennsylvania. Orang tuanya beremigrasi dari Abruzzo wilayah Italia. Ayah Mancini, Quinto, adalah seorang buruh pabrik baja, yang membuat anak satu-satunya mulai belajar piccolo pada usia delapan tahun.[2] Ketika Mancini berusia 12 tahun, ia mulai les piano. Quinto dan Henry bermain seruling bersama-sama di band imigran Aliquippa Italia, "Sons of Italy". Kematian
[sunting | sunting sumber]Mancini meninggal karena kanker pankreas di Los Angeles pada 14 Juni 1994. Mancini meninggalkan seorang istri (berusia 43 tahun, penyanyi Virginia "Ginny" O'Connor) dan tiga anak.
